Meeting the Growing Demand

The ever-expanding network of devices and the growing demand for adaptable solutions have prompted the development of innovative approaches. One of the most frequently faced challenges is how to serve in an effective way a high number of Radio Units (RU) in ORAN deployments. There is a desire for high-port density NICs to serve this purpose, however that is often a challenge for HW designers to comply with in the PCIe form factor standards.

A viable solution is to install multiple NICs in the server/DU where you can synchronize the ToD across the cards by 1PPS propagation through special Synchronization circuit, and HOST SW capabilities to set the right offsets. This is where our feature rich TimeSync SmartNIC  FB4XXVG@Z21D can offer a feasible solution where you can extend Grand Master (T-GM) functionalities across multiple cards, hence connect to an increased number of RUs from a single DU /server.
